CSO / FOAG Concert at Pershore Abbey on 20th June 2026
The evening of music with the Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra was an outstanding success, bringing together supporters for a memorable concert in aid of Farmers Overseas Action Group (FOAG). Under the expert baton of David Curtis, the orchestra delivered a magnificent performance of Gallery of the Imagination, captivating the audience and creating a truly inspiring atmosphere. The combination of exceptional music and a shared commitment to supporting communities in Uganda made for a very special occasion.
A highlight of the evening was a heartfelt address from FOAG trustee Cecilia Dixon, who spoke passionately about the charity's work and the lasting difference it continues to make in Uganda. She explained that 95% of all donations received by FOAG go directly to supporting local communities, helping to fund sustainable farming projects, improve access to education, and provide essential healthcare. The generosity of everyone who attended, combined with the outstanding musical performance, made the evening an overwhelming success and a wonderful celebration of both music and charitable giving.
Following the success of this year's event, FOAG is delighted to announce that the next concert, Rivers of Grandeur, will take place on 19 June 2027. Under the direction of guest conductor Felicity Cliffe, the Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra will perform a spectacular programme featuring Bedřich Smetana's evocative Vltava, Robert Schumann's Konzertstück for Four Horns, with soloists Laura Sheppard, Kelly Haines, Tom Kane and Helen Merrett, and Johannes Brahms's magnificent Symphony No. 4. It promises to be another memorable evening of outstanding music in support of FOAG's vital work with communities in Uganda.
