Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra is delighted to announce its 2026 fundraising concert, Gallery of the Imagination, in support of FOAG. The evening will be a captivating journey through the vivid and dramatic world of classical music, led by the distinguished Conductor David Curtis and featuring the exceptional organist James Lancelot.

The program begins with Berlioz's powerful Overture Les Francs-Juges. This dramatic and intense work sets a bold tone for the evening, immersing the audience in its raw energy and sweeping orchestral sound.

Next, the magnificent organ takes center stage for Poulenc's Organ Concerto. This modern masterpiece is a thrilling conversation between the powerful organ and the full orchestra, showcasing a wide range of emotions from dramatic intensity to poignant reflection.

The concert continues with Mussorgsky's Scherzo, a lively and whimsical piece that demonstrates the composer's playful side. It serves as a delightful prelude to the evening's grand finale.

Finally, the orchestra will perform Mussorgsky's monumental Pictures at an Exhibition. Originally a suite of piano pieces, this work is most famously known through Ravel's brilliant orchestration. Each movement brings to life a different painting, creating a vast and epic soundscape that is both imaginative and breathtakingly vivid.
